Want to learn about The Dexter District Library’s seed library collection?  Come join in the fun and learn how to start gardening from seed to table with the help of Ben Cohen, owner of Small House Farms, a small homestead business located in Sanford, MI.

Ben has worked diligently over the past couple of years developing a network of seed libraries and seed stewards across Michigan. He has worked to help a number of new seed banks become established and helped equip these communities with the tools they need for their projects to thrive.

Join us for this informative program and learn what it means for a seed to be heirloom, hybrid, organic or GMO; the importance of maintaining genetic diversity; basic and intermediate seed saving techniques – including a demonstration; proper seed storage and labeling; community seed sharing; and, make seed saving fun for the whole family. Families are welcome and encouraged to attend. Register at the Adult Reference Desk or call 734-426-4477.
