Join us for this taped interview documenting the story of Tuskegee Airman Alexander Jefferson. Mr. Jefferson is a veteran Tuskegee Airman who flew possibly the greatest fighter plane of WW II, the P-51. He flew with the 15th Air Force out of Foggia Italy.  He flew 18 combat missions before being shot down while on a strafing mission on August 12th 1944 over Toulon France.  Mr. Jefferson was taken as a POW of Germany and sent to Stalag Luft 3 in Sagan Poland.  This is the prison camp that was featured in the movie "The Great Escape" with Steve McQueen and James Garner. Mr. Jefferson also went to view the horrible Concentration Camp at Dachau, Germany upon its liberation. He describes what he saw.

Alexander Jefferson is scheduled to appear at the library for a Q & A session after the viewing of his taped interview.

Reservation required, contact the Adult Reference Desk.
