Tips for insomnia sufferers looking for a better night’s sleep appear regularly in magazines and on the Internet. Often the advice falls short--not because it’s bad advice, but rather because there are different kinds of insomnia, and remedies helpful to some poor sleepers may be useless to others. In this talk, local author Lois Maharg discusses different types of insomnia and various approaches to managing them.

Lois Maharg is a health journalist who writes about sleep, exercise, and food. Her lifelong insomnia gave rise to her new book, The Savvy Insomniac: A Personal Journey through Science to Better Sleep. Her blog, The Savvy Insomniac, is dedicated to sharing new information about insomnia and sleep.
