Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) affects 45 million Americans. It’s also a tricky condition–hard to diagnose and miserable to live with. With the advent of the low FODMAP diet, nutrition is one of the primary treatments–but most people don’t know how to connect the dots between our brain and our gut health. Enter a presentation by Dr. Megan Riehl, a gut-health expert who is local to Dexter, Michigan.
This program, based on the groundbreaking book Mind Your Gut: The Science-based, Whole-body Guide to Living Well with IBS by Dr. Megan Riehl and Kate Scarlata, will empower attendees with the latest science and holistic strategies to manage and thrive with IBS. The presentation will include:
- An engaging discussion on the gut-brain connection and its impact on IBS.
- Stress management techniques and body relaxation methods to alleviate IBS symptoms.
- Nutritional remedies, including an introduction to the low FODMAP diet and other gut-friendly interventions.

- Distribution of sample recipes and practical tools from Mind Your Gut to support gut health at home.

About the presenter: Dr. Megan Riehl is a world-renowned health psychologist specializing in the management of gastrointestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), as well as other chronic health conditions. An Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Michigan, she is deeply involved in professional GI organizations and patient advocacy groups. In 2024, she joined the national Board of Trustees for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
