“Color Our World” Photo Contest

Grades 5 through 12

Submit an original photo of the colorful world around you for a chance to win a gift card. Be sure to get creative and have fun!  Submit up to one photo in three different categories:

• Colors of Nature – The natural world has so many colors in it! Snap a pic of a plant, animal, or natural landmark to show us the beauty and art that can be found in nature.
• Work of Art – This can be anything that is a work of art to you – it could be something you’ve made, art you find in your summer travels and adventures, or even an artistic photo of a person. Be as creative with this category as you can!
• Pet Portrait – Snap a picture of a furry friend! It can be your pet or even a stuffed animal.

RULES & DETAILS:

Participants must be entering grades 5 through 12 in the fall of 2025.
All entries must be participant’s own, original photographs.
Photos may be manipulated for artistic purposes.
Entries will be judged in three categories:  Colors of Nature, Work of Art, and Pet Portrait.
Participants may submit up to one photo in each of the three categories.
All categories are open for interpretation.
Composition, originality, and technique will be considered in judging.
Deadline for all entries is Friday, August 1, 2025.
Two winners will be chosen in each of the three categories.
Winners will be announced by Friday, August 15, 2025.
Photo entries will be posted in the Library’s Teen Zone and on the Library’s website.

All entries must be emailed to the Teen/Tween Librarian at mhall@dexter.lib.mi.us and must include the following:

1.  Participant’s First and Last Name
2.  Grade entering this fall of 2025
   
3.  Category for Each Photo Submission
