Shibori is a resist technique that might look similar to tie-dye; however, it has been around since the 6th century. Natural dyeing dates back even further to the year 2600 BC. In this workshop, you will learn how to make a shibori design and natural dye bath using marigold flowers to create a gorgeous golden yellow cotton bandana. All materials are included.
Although not a messy process, please wear something that you could potentially get dye on, or bring a smock or apron if you’d like. Come with curiosity, wonder and a good attitude and get ready to learn something new!
About the instructor: Kristan Green considers herself an experimental natural dyer and enjoys seeing what mystery and abundance plants hold. After being diagnosed with a chronic health condition and blood disorder, she found peace in surrendering to the mysterious elements and connections between the body, nature, and creativity. She is a former middle school art teacher and vintage clothing store owner, and is now the creator and owner of The Natural Dye Company.
