Come enjoy a one-of-a-kind artistic experience at the Dexter Public Library this summer. The nine acres of decorative art inside the Michigan State Capitol is among the state’s most splendid treasures and Anthony M. Cairo is one of the artists keeping it this way. Cairo is also a nationally exhibited and award-winning plein air landscape painter whose work can be found in various public and private collections in the United States. Mr. Cairo will present a background into his various professional artistic practices, creative history, and conclude with a live demonstration of some of his techniques.
About the presenter’s work and process:
“The complex and endless beauty of the natural world is my greatest influence. I still find magic in these spaces, and they have become my greatest teacher. I value the miraculous and complex color harmonies observed in nature primary to subject matter. I choose subjects that inspire me through their lyrical depth in color and atmosphere. This approach helps me to think more abstractly about what I’m painting, why I’m painting, and forces me to try new things”.
This is a 2-hour presentation in the Library’s lower-level meeting room. Registration is appreciated. Scroll down to register on the Library’s events calendar or call 734-426-4477 (ext. 120)
This Program is part of the 2025 Adult Summer Reading Program: Color Our World. Attendees do not have to be participating in the Adult Summer Reading Program to attend. All are welcome.
