Would you like to preserve your old photos digitally? Dexter District Library now has available for public use an Epson FastFoto 680W machine that is capable of digitizing 20 photos per minute at an amazing archival quality of 600 DPI. The scanner can accommodate both 4×6 and 5×7 photos, with the ability to go up to 8×10 inch photos. Scans are approximately 6MB each. Save scans directly onto your own portable storage device, upload scans to cloud storage like Dropbox or Google Drive, or email the scans as attachments. This machine is for in-house use and you can reserve it by calling 734-426-4477 – ask for the adult reference desk.
Some tips for use:
- Presort your photos by size/subject.
- Remove any dust/adhesive from your photos with a dry cloth before using the machine to prevent jamming.
- Feather your photos before loading them into the machine to ensure they are not stuck together.
