Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia is a program designed by the Alzheimer’s Association to educate attendees on fundamental facts about Alzheimer’s disease. Topics include the distinction between dementia and Alzheimer’s, the prevalence of Alzheimer’s, it’s social and economic impact, risk factors for the disease, the role of genes and family history, the diagnostic process, current knowledge about brain changes during the progression of the disease, and advances in research. Also addressed will be support and resources available for persons living with dementia and their care partners.

This program is Part 2 of a 5 part series on Alzheimers & Dementia presented by Jim Mangi, PhD, in conjunction with the Washtenaw County Alzheimers Association.

This program is approximately 1 hour with Q & A time at the end. Registration suggested, but not mandatory.  To register call the library at 734-426-4477.  All are welcome to attend.
