Elder Financial Abuse is a major issue in our society. More than 369,000 scams and financial abuse cases targeting the elderly are reported to the authorities every year. Most experts agree that that number is just a slice of the full scope. Many senior citizens are being taken advantage of, and they don’t even know it!
Teresa Beegle, the Compliance Officer for the Chelsea State Bank, will be presenting this information only class to bring awareness to this problem and to answer your questions. The class will cover Elder Abuse topics, as well as other current trends in fraud happening right here in our very own community. Learn how to spot the signs of elder abuse, and what to do if you or someone you know is being taken advantage of. Scams regarding romance, grandchildren, Social Security, Internet fraud, lottery scams, and more will also be covered. There will be plenty of time for Q & A.
About the presenter:
Teresa Beegle, is the Compliance Officer for Chelsea State Bank. She has 6 years banking experience, 5 of which involve investigating and mitigating fraud for customers. Teresa is a Certified Community Bank Compliance Officer and is AARP BankSafe Certified to identify elder abuse.
