South Korea has boomed over the past 50 years to rank high in the world’s economic powers.  Recently cited as one of the world’s most innovative nations and already known as one of the most internet wired countries on the planet, Korea is a country rooted in ancient traditions and folklore.  What do we really know of this ancient culture besides political saber rattling, the 2018 Winter Olympics, and our own country’s ties reaching back to the Korean War?  Travel through Seoul, “The Miracle on the Han”, and other highlights around the peninsula with Mariya Fogarasi, weaving together a modern nation and its time-honored past.

About the Presenter:

International travel presenter, Mariya Fogorasi, lived for four years in Korea. In her talk, she will discuss how she found the country of Korea to be full of contrasts and beauty: how the former poverty-stricken Japanese colony awash with wondrous mountain ranges became one of the world’s top ten trading nations.
