Join historian Andrew Kercher and hear a firsthand account of what it is like to live an entire year on Mackinac Island.

As a security guard, for the Grand Hotel, Andrew Kercher experienced life on the Island after the tourist leave and the Island quiets down for the winter. Experience the beauty of the Island in all four seasons, learn the secrets of the Grand Hotel and discover what it is like to live like a local.

About the presenter:

Andrew Kercher has a B.A. in History and Philosophy from Albion College and a M.S. in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University. He has worked at museums around the state, living in the Straits of Mackinac for nearly a decade. He is currently the Community Engagement Manager in his home town of Port Huron where he lives with his wife and two wonderful cats, Gilbert and Sullivan. When not talking about history, he can usually be found working on his 1958 Packard or antique firearm collection.
