In September of 2005, the Dexter Community Orchestra was officially chartered as a musical group dedicated to cultural enrichment through symphonic music with the following objectives:
• To create and maintain a non-profit community orchestra.
• To offer musicians of all levels an opportunity to perform symphonic music.
• To foster music education for both youths and adults.
• To contribute to the enhancement of performing arts in the Dexter community.
Join us in welcoming members of the Dexter Community Orchestra for a relaxing Sunday afternoon concert at the Library.
This program will feature a talk by composer Dr. Evan Chambers about our bicentennial commissioned piece “from the woods to the waters and home” as well as musical selections by DCO Music Director Dr. David Schultz. This program will be in the Library’s lower-level meeting room. Families are welcome to attend. Registration is appreciated, but not required. This program is part of the Dexter District Library’s yearlong Bicentennial program – “We Are Dexter.” Every month from January through December the Library will host a program featuring individuals and groups that make up the Dexter community. These presentations will include artists, authors, musicians and individuals who have a hobby, talent, experience or story that makes them part of the fabric of our town.
