John Towner Williams is an American composer, conductor, and pianist. With a career spanning over six decades, he has composed some of the most popular, recognizable, and critically acclaimed film scores in cinematic history. Some of his most popular music includes the Star Wars series, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, the Indiana Jones series, the first two Home Alone films, Hook, the first two Jurassic Park films, Schindler’s List, and the first three Harry Potter films.
Percussionist Paul Demick will play some of the beautiful music of John Williams on the Marimba and share some interesting facts the musical scores. The marimba is a percussion instrument consisting of a set of wooden bars struck with mallets to produce musical tones. You will learn details about the origins of the Marimba, its history, and the captivating music that resonates from its wood bars. Register at the Adult Service Desk or call 734-426-4477.
